Let me share a little more about myself.

Kalen Smith, LPC, ATR-BC

Who: I'm Kalen Smith, a licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri and a nationally board-certified registered art therapist.

Experience: I have professional experience working with folks in various settings, including treatment facilities, hospitals, schools, and community settings. My most current focus has been on helping adolescents and adults with disordered eating, diagnosed eating disorders, and accompanying mental diagnoses. I have expertise in addressing concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, poor body image, neurodiversity, and relational problems. Before specializing in treating eating disorders, I worked in providing support to children, teens, and families coping with loss, offered counseling in inpatient psychiatric care, supported adults with developmental differences, and worked with kiddos in underserved communities.

Education & Licenses: I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in art therapy counseling. Throughout my graduate training, I completed three years of immersive practicum experience under extensive individual and group supervision. I am proud to hold licensure as a professional counselor in the state of Missouri and national registration as a board-certified art therapist.

Approach: I prioritize your needs, values, and experiences every step of the way. Together, we'll explore various therapy methods and techniques, but the focus will always be meeting you where you’re at. With an individualized approach, our sessions become a collaborative journey, where you lead the way and I provide support and guidance to help you freely express yourself, better understand your emotions, and discover a path to the relief and personal growth you are looking for.
