Art Therapy

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses creative expression to help you explore and process your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. It’s not about creating a perfect piece of art; instead, it’s about using art as a tool for self-discovery and healing. Through drawing, painting, sculpting, or other creative activities, you can gain insight, manage emotions, and communicate in ways that words alone may not capture.

What does it look like in session?

In an art therapy session, you don’t need any prior art experience. Sessions are tailored to your needs and comfort level. We may use art materials to explore feelings, process challenges, or express ideas that are hard to put into words. Sometimes, we’ll focus more on the creative process, while other times, we’ll reflect on the meaning of the art you’ve created. You always set the pace, and I’ll guide and support you throughout.

Who can it help?

As long as you’re open to exploring the creative process, art therapy could be helpful, no matter your age or artistic experience.

“I could say things with color and shape that I couldn’t’ say any other way – things I had no words for…”
– Margaret Naumburg
